Journalist | Former Athlete
Joy SpearChief-Morris is a journalist and former national team athlete. Her work has appeared in The Globe and Mail, Toronto Star, The Narwhal, The Walrus, CBC and Sportsnet, focusing on politics, the environment, healthcare, sports, culture and Indigenous affairs. She is a multi-skilled journalist, producing stories for print and digital platforms, including radio, video and television broadcast. Joy is a proud member of the Kainai Blood Tribe in southern Alberta. She is the 2026 CJF-Globe and Mail Black Business Journalism Fellow as well as 2025 CJF-CBC Indigenous Fellow and Canadian Association of Journalism Emerging Indigenous Journalist Award finalist.
